Every lesson and every assessment is free. If you want to know how well you really did, I’ll mark your answers personally and send you written feedback within 5 days.
No university or college coursework
I only mark the assessments at the end of the lessons on this website. I will not mark university or college coursework, assignments or exam answers, in whole or in part, under any circumstances. Please don’t send them.

How it works
- Attempt the assessment. You’ll find it at the end of each lesson. Work on your own and without notes, as if it were an exam.
- Put your name and the lesson number at the top. Show your working for any calculation. Marks are given for method as well as the final answer.
- Pay, then upload your work. Use the button below to pay. Then upload your answers on the submission page, using the order number from your confirmation email. One file per assessment.
- Get your feedback. Within 5 days you’ll receive your marked work by email, with comments on what you did well and what to work on next.

Resubmitting after feedback
Feedback is most useful when you act on it. After your work has been marked, you can revise it and resubmit it once, for £10, within 30 days of receiving your feedback.
- The resubmission must be your own revised version of the same assessment.
- I re-mark the questions where you lost marks and comment on what has improved.
- Your result is shown as a revised mark next to your original mark. It never replaces the original, because the revised attempt was made after seeing my feedback.

What I will and won’t mark
- Assessments from the Soil Mechanics Fundamentals lessons on this website, and nothing else.
- University or college coursework, assignments or exam answers, in whole or in part.
- Work that is not an assessment from this website.
This protects your academic integrity as well as mine. If a submission looks like university or college work, I’ll return it unmarked. Refunds follow the refunds and cancellations policy.
Questions
Do I have to pay to use the lessons?
No. Every lesson, practice question and assessment is free. Marking is completely optional.
Why aren’t the assessment answers on the website?
So the assessment stays a genuine test. The practice questions in each lesson do have answers, so you can check your understanding before you try the assessment.
Can I resubmit after reading my feedback?
Yes, once, for £10, within 30 days of receiving your feedback. Your revised mark is shown alongside your original mark. See Resubmitting after feedback above.
Can you help with my university assignment instead?
No. I don’t mark, check or give feedback on university or college coursework, assignments or exam answers, even partly. If you’re struggling with a topic, the free lessons and practice questions are there to help you understand it yourself.
What happens to my work and personal details?
They’re used only to mark your work and send it back to you. See the privacy policy for full details.
