My vision
Engineering 10 Million Minds
My vision is to support over 10 million young people in their search for scholarships, career direction and professional development.
But I do not want to begin with the scholarship.
I do not want to begin with the CV.
I do not even want to begin with the job application.
I want to begin with the mind.
Because before someone can recognise an opportunity, pursue it confidently, survive rejection and make something meaningful out of it, something must first happen within.
That is what I call Mind Engineering.
Where it starts
Great achievements often begin within
Many of the people we admire started with something that could not initially be seen.
Nelson Mandela
Spent decades holding on to a conviction about the future of South Africa before he ever became president.
Malala Yousafzai
Her global advocacy began with a deeply held belief that girls deserved access to education.
Thomas Edison
Experienced repeated unsuccessful experiments, yet continued working because failure did not automatically mean the end of the pursuit.
Behind visible achievement is often an invisible process:
A belief.
A decision.
A way of thinking.
A willingness to continue.
That is why I believe the first battle is often fought within the mind.
The foundation
Before opportunity comes preparation
I want to help young people understand themselves before asking the world what it has to offer them.
- Who are you?
- What are your strengths?
- Where do you need to grow?
- What problems are you interested in solving?
- What kind of person must you become to reach where you want to go?
Once that foundation is established, we begin to develop the ability to:
- recognise opportunities others may overlook;
- think strategically about education and career decisions;
- approach setbacks as feedback rather than final verdicts;
- develop a constructive and positive attitude;
- build resilience when things do not go according to plan;
- continuously learn and improve;
- create opportunities instead of waiting endlessly for them.
Because scholarships will be rejected.
Applications will fail.
Emails will sometimes go unanswered.
Interviews will not always lead to offers.
Plans will change.
The objective therefore cannot simply be to prepare someone for one opportunity.
It must be to prepare the person who will keep finding opportunities throughout life.
The heart of Mind Engineering
Win within first
Before we engineer the career, we engineer the mind.
- A mind that understands itself.
- A mind that can see possibilities.
- A mind that is willing to learn.
- A mind that is not destroyed by rejection.
- A mind that can adapt.
- A mind that remains resilient.
- A mind that understands that setbacks are part of the journey, not necessarily the end of it.
When the battle within is won, the person approaches the world differently.
The scholarship becomes an opportunity, not their identity.
The job becomes a platform, not their entire definition of success.
Failure becomes information.
And success becomes something they are prepared to sustain.
Multiplying impact
Why 10 million?
Because I believe impact should multiply.
If I help one student think differently, that student may eventually influence a family, a workplace, a community or another generation of students.
If I teach one person how to identify opportunities, I do not simply want them to benefit from that knowledge. I want them eventually to help someone else.
That is how reaching 10 million becomes possible.
Not necessarily through ten million individual conversations with me, but through ideas, mentoring, education, digital resources, communities and people who pass what they have learnt to others.
My ambition is therefore bigger than helping people win scholarships. It is bigger than helping graduates find jobs.
I want to help develop a generation of young people who can think clearly, recognise opportunities, respond intelligently to setbacks and take responsibility for continuously developing themselves.
My vision
Engineer the mind first.
Because when the mind is prepared, opportunities become easier to recognise, challenges become easier to confront, and possibilities become much bigger than they first appeared.
